The OneRoomChallenge Reveal -- Our Florida Winter Wonderland Bedroom

And -- we're done! Welcome to Florida in December!

DIY headboard, nightstands, dressers.

Re-used existing mirror, but got new "cat-proof" bedside lights from Target.

Bedding from Zara Home, Amazon and West Elm.

Re-used lighting, decor items, plants from our yard or grocery store. Upcycled Ikea Wooden Chair.

Grassello Fino Art Piece (!) Re-used bamboo chests.

Purse storage! We chose dark bronze hardware (new or re-used) to pop against the Glimmerstone (Limestone)walls.

New overhead fan from Lowes.

We wanted to create a light, bright airy feel, improve our lighting situation and our storage situation. Here's our befores:

We moved the bed to the other wall.

We decided to lose the TV.

The foundation was a beautiful Glimmerstone wall finish.  This natural limestone textural finish has literally made our bedroom airier. Next, we (meaning the royal we - actually Kevin did most the work)  had a lot of fun with paint colors -- redoing our trim, painting our dressers and nightstands and redoing a chair I use a lot to give it a graphic look and feel. To balance that, we added a DIY oak headboard and used oak strips for handles on our new dressers. The handles on the nightstands Kevin gilded with copper leaf. The plants and decor were fun, I mainly shopped the rest of the house and went out in the yard to cut branches off our bushes. The bromelaid was bought -  because mine quit blooming a month ago.

But the final piece was probably the best. I had wanted a light, airy looking art piece we could see from our newly situated bed.  Kevin used another FirenzeColor product, Grassello Fino, and applied it to a framed board we had made in multiple layers and then burnished it. As usual, pictures don't do it justice.

Detail. He used three colors, put another layer of white over the top and burnished.

It has been great fun to follow along with all the other folks working on the One Room Challenge. There was some amazing work done. Go here to see what everyone else did!  --- moltobene wife
