The impact of color in a space
For
over 20 years we have been providing high end exclusive finishes,
moderately priced faux finishes and painting services both interior
and exterior, and while the materials and textures play an important
role in the overall look; the major player is color.
Nothing
creates a mood, feel or flavor like color. It's fascinating to see
how different cultures use
color
and what a difference a change in color can make in a home. Try this
paint experiment ( or at least imagine it). Take a room in your house
and imagine it in a soft yellow with white ceiling and trim. Then
paint it in a deep red. Then try a light green shade. Then a deep
cobalt blue. Now try a light color and use a half shade darker of the
same color on the ceiling. Next try a light color and use much darker
colors for the doors, and trim. Each color change you make is going
to dramatically change the feel of the room (in a good or bad way
depending on your preferences). This without any other changes to the
room. You could try changing any other one element in the room by
itself, such as furniture, drapes, art work, etc. and not get
anywhere near the impact of the one single action that you get from
color change.
We
make no bones about our affinity for color.
Not
all our clients can afford specialty finishes for their homes but
most everyone can afford paint. So no matter what, we always push for
color.
Now
a days most paint companies have paint software programs and apps
that show you templates of rooms in a house or even a picture of a
room in your home. You can then try different colors from their
color decks in the template or picture. You don't get the full feel,
but you can get a chance to sample different colors in your rooms at
no cost. Just a few examples - Benjamin Moore, Sherwin Williams.
Give
your home a fresh new feel in 2014 – with color!
