Singing the Blues - 2014 Color of the Year
2014 is being forecast as a blue year. At least according to the color experts.
Pantone, considered the global authority on color, has released their color of choice for 2014 -"Dazzling Blue" (a peppy shade of cobalt). While their color choices are initially associated with fashion trends, it extends into interior design with fabrics, paints and specialty finishes.
We have done beautiful interior spaces such as dining rooms in this deeper shade. Also beautiful as an accent color.
Keeping with the blue theme, Benjamin Moore has also released their 2014 Colour - "Breath of Fresh Air", considered a gorgeous ethereal blue serving as a new neutral. This provides a color one can use in larger spaces both inside and outside. This gives you a pleasant space and a backdrop that makes art, furnishings, etc. pop. Again, we have done special wall finishes (as well as paint) using this part of the blue family to excellent result.
According to the Paint Quality Institute, blue is considered to be calming (as opposed to red, which is considered stimulating) so keep that in mind when designing a room or a space.
