Spicy walls – the return of the statement wall

OK so here’s a problem we have to solve. We are highly skilled in using color and texture to change the mood and feel in a space. We use imported Italian, Moroccan and other materials to do this.

However what do we have to offer if we are dealing with budget constraints?  You could paint, which is good, but nothing special. You could do some faux painting - some looks ok- some looks dated  as an application now.

Here’s what we do.

Enter – the statement wall. We use a plaster material called Ja Décor. It is a unique cotton and mineral material originally created in Germany. It is very textural as you can see in the pictures. Now while this material looks great in a whole room, we have found this finish with its unique texture to create quite an impact as a statement wall.

So with a limited budget, we can do a statement wall with Ja Décor,  adjust the other walls with a new paint color, and change the mood and feel of the space.

WE HAVE MENTIONED THIS MATERIAL IN EARLIER BLOGS, BUT IT BEARS REPEATING. It is a very green product, has great acoustical properties ( use in a home theater space), is very green, easy to repair and as stated, works great in combination with adjoining painted walls. It can be matched in any color from a Benjamin Moore color deck.

We plan on featuring this product at an upcoming home show. Here’s a few recent shots to give you some ideas. Click on the picture to take a closer look.  If you’d like more info or have a project in mind, give us a shout.

I think this look would be fabulous in a very modern loft. Also amazing in a very hip restaurant.
